Fantástica Tv has been possible thanks to the crowdfunding of a lot of people: http://vkm.is/fantasticatv During the two months residency I´ve decided to reasearch about whicht things on TV are interesting or not for me. The most interesting genre I´ve found is the "telebasura", a spanish term to describe non-fiction TV programs which are percieved to be "junk" ( tele-basura= TV-grabage). The programms that would be clasified as telebasura are the ones which disobey the deontologic codes of journalist and which diffuse values influence people in a negative manner. It is associated with reality shows and talk shows. In this category I´ve found the "reality television" as a subgenre that documents unscripted situations and actual occurrences, and often features a previously publicly unknown cast. The genre often highlights personal drama and conflict to a much greater extent than other unscripted television such as documentary shows. The reality television is a relativ new gender that works between the real and the fiction, without actors and scripts. The audience becomes a voayeur that observates the everyday life and conflicts of commons people. I am talking about programms like the famous Big Brother. I built a Big Brother Stage on the artist studio and let some " competitors" live there. I´ve filmed some situations on the "house" and an interview of the winner on a soap show. To finish the project we´ve filmed live the programm "Why yes, why not?" on the studio to show a resumme of the Big Brother on Fantástica TV and to discuss about it with two respected spanish art criticist and curator, Luis Francisco Pérez and Jaime Lavagne. |
